Lathe and Machine Tools
Bangladesh’s growing light engineering sector — centred in Dhaka’s Demra and Tongi industrial areas — relies heavily on Indian lathe machines. All-geared lathes and capstan lathes from Rajkot are the most popular choices due to spare parts availability.
Electric Motors
Textile mills, garment factories, and food processing plants across Dhaka, Chittagong, and Gazipur purchase large quantities of 3-phase IE2 motors ranging from 1 HP to 50 HP.
Hydraulic Equipment
Hydraulic presses, gear pumps, and directional control valves are in demand from Bangladesh’s metalworking and auto parts manufacturing clusters.
Import Duty and Compliance
Bangladesh applies customs duty of 5–15% on most industrial machinery under Chapters 84 and 85 of the HS Code. Machinery with a valid Certificate of Origin from India may be eligible for reduced duty under SAFTA (South Asian Free Trade Agreement).
Payment and Logistics
Most Bangladesh buyers use L/C at sight from Dutch Bangla, BRAC Bank, or Islami Bank Bangladesh. T/T advance is acceptable for established buyers. Shipments via Chittagong Port from Kolkata take 4–7 days; from Mundra via sea it takes 12–16 days.
